Be Aware Of The Current Relationship


ARDI is a very open system, meaning that it's possible to go off in the wrong direction. When we see these issues, we like to document them to help others avoid problems.

Although it will be second-nature soon enough, when you're getting started with ARDI it's very easy to forget which relationship you're looking at.

Whenever you add or move assets around your ARDI system, please remember to consider the relationship you're looking at. Are you in Location? Types? Energy? Gas?

It's very common to find beginner users making complex structures in the wrong relationship, such as trying to draw their air-flow diagram in the Location relationship, or their electrical connections in their Types.

Idea
Before you hit 'Add', please stop to consider the relationship you're viewing and decide if the asset you're building/moving really belongs there. The text at the bottom of your diagram can be helpful, so ask yourself "Is that valve really inside the pump?". If the answer is no, you should choose a different relationship, such as "Water" or "Air".
